The first Mayor's Hike and Bike will benefit the nutrition programs of Catholic Charities, the Emergency Food Bank.
Start and finish line is at the Stockton Ports Ballpark. Two choices of route for hikers; two choices of routes for bikers.
2.7 mile walking route takes walkers into historic downtown Stockton, past/through the Bob Hope Theatre, the Regal City Center Cineplex and Hotel Stockton and other downtown historic sites.
The longer, 6.7 mile route then treks north to the Miracle Mile and out to the Haggin Museum, then returns to the Stockton Ports Ballpark.
Two biking routes; the shorter, 8.6 mile route follows the longer walking route, and, from Miracle Mile, then runs north to the University of Pacific campus, then over the Haggin Museum/Victory Park and back to the Stockton Ports Ballpark.
The longer biking route, The Calaveras River Tour: This 18.6 mile route takes bikers through the University of Pacific campus for refreshments, then West onto the scenic Calaveras Bike Trail, out to Brookside and onto Buckley Cover/San Joaquin River (for music and refreshments, snacks) then over to the Haggin Museum/Victory Park and back to the Stockton Ports Ballpark.
Hikers and Bikers will see and hear about: (depending on the selected route)
Rest stops will be provided on the routes, offering water and drinks. Transportation (sag wagons) will also be provided along the routes for those unable to go the entire distance. Young children are welcome though they must walk or bike with parents or adult guardians and obey all the "traffic rules of the road". All bicyclists under the age of 18 are required to wear an approved bicycle helmet. No Exceptions! All other bicyclists are strongly urged to wear an approved helmet. For the safety of others, please leave your skateboards, roller blades and pets at home. All participants are required by the Stockton Police Department to obey all relevant laws.”
Take the Oak Street/Fremont St exit. Turn left onto Fremont Street. Continue on Fremont Street. Ballpark is on the right at the corner of Fremont Street and Lincoln Street.
Take the Pershing Avenue exit. Make an immediate right onto Flora Street. Turn right onto Orange Street. Turn left onto Fremont Street. Ballpark is on the right at the corner or Fremont Street and Lincoln Street.
Exit Highway 4(Cross-town Freeway) heading West. Travel to
downtown Stockton and exit El Dorado Street.
Travel North on El Dorado four blocks. Turn left on Fremont Street.
Ballpark is on the left at the corner of Fremont Street and Van
Buren Street.
